The results are in and it’s official! The number one ingredient and key to being successful at anything in life is….
Looking after yourself.
The link between having success and being physically and mentally healthy are unquestionable.
Now bare in mind we all have our own definitions of success and what it means. If I was to put my two bobs in I would say success means creating a life that is sustainable for as long as you’re alive and one that brings contentment, satisfaction and meaning.
It needs to have a balance of sacrifice, pleasure, giving and taking. However at the forefront of all of this is making sure you recognise that YOU are the most important element for this to work.
Whether it’s being a successful businessman or woman, a successful mother or father, a successful student or a simply a successful contributor to society if you’re not conscious and continuously working on yourself the chances of success deteriorate.
When you look at what makes someone successful there’s a variety of traits they possess.
They acquire knowledge by educating themselves, they have good instincts, they’re driven, they’re confident, they’re positive, they don’t rely on anyone else but they do seek guidance from those that have come before them, they’re passionate, they’re adaptable, they’re honest to themselves and others, they’re persistent, they take responsibility and they work their arses off.
They better themselves everyday and there’s certainly no complacency.
They’re also health conscious. They put time into exercising, eating well and getting enough sleep.
Makes sense really. How can successful people be successful if they don’t have their health? Well the answer is simple….
They can’t be.
Remember your health is the most important single thing you have, and it is COMPLETELY subject to the habits that you develop with regard to the way you live. Successful people realise this and it is at the core of them as a person.
They make an INVESTMENT in themselves.
Barack Obama, Gwyneth Paltrow, Richard Branson, Mark Zuckerberg and Jack Dorsey are just a handful of high profile people that endorse the benefits of exercise and how it aids in their pursuit of success.
Multiple studies have found that nearly everyone on record states that they engage in some form of exercise daily.
So, what is it about exercise that leads all of these successful people to recognise how important it is and for them to make it a part of who they are?
Well if I haven’t explained the benefits of exercise before I’ll do it again. This will give you an insight of how it will help you be successful and how its already helping successful people be successful.
Exercise boosts your mood and creates energy. The result – More energy and a better mood to put into whatever it is you want to be successful at.
It helps to reduce stress and anxiety. This means more confidence and less worry about pursuing whatever it is you want to be successful at.
It gives you more clarity to make better decisions. This speaks for itself. Better decisions mean a better chance to be whatever it is you want to be successful at.
It releases happy endorphins that help create positive vibes and self esteem which in turn help you to be more productive and fast track whatever it is you want to be successful at.
It stimulates the brain and sharpens your memory. A clearer head and better memory gives you a better chance to be whatever it is you want to be successful at.
I think you get the picture.
So ask yourself…. What is it you want to be successful at?
Whatever your answer is, I guarantee you’ll need to be sure your health and well being is in tip top shape to achieving it that’s for sure.
Ps. For shits and giggles how many times did I say successful in this blog? First one to text through to 0402 136 173 with the right answer will be successful 🙂
