HOW CUTE 🙂
So I just got back from another trip to Greece enjoying the sun, beautiful food and company of family and friends. You definitely can’t go wrong over there especially in summer. What a place!! And not gonna lie, if I had a choice I’d probably prefer to still be there however 4 weeks is enough to refresh and re-energise.
One thing I do miss though when I’m away is seeing the people I spend so much time with – my clients. It’s good to reconnect and pick up where we left off as we have a big influence on each other’s lives and spend a lot of time together.
One client in particular is Alison. I’ve been training her for 15 years! She’s 73 years old. Twice a week every week without fail she comes in to the gym rain hail or shine. She is one of the most determined people I have ever met. She’s also extremely frail, uncoordinated, stubborn yet kind hearted and one of the most selfless people I’ve come across.
She admits (almost weekly) how much she hates coming to our sessions. And I mean hates it! However she does concede how important it is to keep her quality of life in tact and be self sufficient. And she’s fully committed to that!
Anyway while I was away, Alison being the clumsy little thing she is, had a fall (as old people tend to do) and cracked her ribs. This isn’t the first time she’s fallen by the way. Add to that – shoulder dislocations, broken bones, torn tendons and a fused spine she’s had it all. You could say she is a trooper!
Upon returning from my holiday and finding this out, a quick text was sent through to see how she was and if she was ok…
A typical, blunt Alison reply came back saying ‘Im fine. See you Tuesday’
She’s unbelievable. Nothing stops her even at the ripe old age of 73! Some nasty bruising and cracked ribs (which are extremely painful for anyone that’s had them) doesn’t even come close to getting in the way of her determination to stay active. It’s because she realises the importance of it and for that you have all my respect and attention Alison 🙂 Hats off to you!
It does beg the question though… If little old Alison can commit to herself why can’t you?
