Here we go again hey….
Back into lockdown for another 6 weeks.
We’re all going to have to deal with our own sets of challenges and obstacles in this time.
Even though each of our circumstances are different they still present problems that we’d rather not have to face if we had the choice.
We’ve all been ‘put out’ in different ways and left with a lot of uncertainty, frustration, fear, worry and have more questions than answers at the moment.
However what the current situation does is bring to a head a huge opportunity.
An opportunity to take stock and reevaluate what’s important and what’s not. That’s how I see it anyway.
I think there’ll be 3 types of people to come out of this lockdown period.
The worry warts, the hibernators and the soarers.
The worry warts
We all worry at times. Some more than others obviously. Understandably there’s a bit of angst out there about a lot of things. Your own health, your loved ones and having some security.
However just make sure you catch yourself when your mind starts putting ‘worst case scenarios’ on repeat and causes you to shut your whole life down.
It’s one thing to be aware, cautious and safe, but it’s another when you’re too scared to fart and think if you sneeze once, you’re infected with COVID.
We can’t be living the rest of our lives peeping through the blinds as our only form of knowing what’s going on in the world.
Having said that, don’t watch the bloody news either! It’s all about death, drama and scaremongering to help get ratings. Be smart about what you take in and what you don’t.
The hibernators
These ones have pretty much just pressed pause on life and taking an extended hiatus. Time spent is usually watching Netflix, playing video games and spending time with the family. No real dramas or stress. They’re just chilling and riding it out. Once this period is over they’ll simply pick up where they left off. Peace bro.
The soarers
These people are looking at this as an opportunity to grow and develop as a person and figure out what it is they want to get out of life. A chance for a new career, to build better relationships and a chance to change for the better. It’s like a self audit on where their life is at and where they want it to go.
Even though circumstances aren’t ideal, these people are still positive and smart enough to see the opportunities available to them. They’ll use this time wisely to educate themselves, learn new things and plan for their future.
I might add there will definitely be people falling into 2 or even 3 categories at some stages.
I’ll admit I’ve been in all 3. And that’s just today!
But regardless of what category you may fall into, there’s another category that will always sort out the motivated from the lazy ones.
The exercisers
Just quietly has there ever been a more important time to exercise than now? Not so much for your physical fitness but for your mental health? Don’t think so.
Let me tell you, the next 6 weeks are going to be a hell of a lot worse if you aren’t making time for yourself and exercising regardless of the situation you’re in.
Further to that it’s going to be a lot more painful when you do finally decide to get back into it. Essentially you’ll be starting all over again.
The exercisers category will sort out the fit from the fat. That goes for body and mind.
Don’t let yourself down. Do yourself a favour, get off your arse and get active. It’s so important.
